Yes, I'm no desirable woman's wet dream, and I don't photograph well (partly because of my poor camera self-portrait skills making my face look slghtly longer than it actually is) at 43. When I was heavier 20+ years ago I didn't look all that attractive either obviously. Little did I realize by posting something I wanted that the world would say I cannot ever have (even if I was a billionaire apparently), the trolls who lurk around here would come crashing down with their unwelcome advice, unflattering comments and miscellaneous cheap shots. As a result of the overwhelmingly negative feedback from the sorts of a-holes who appear in Pride Parades or sodomize farm animals, and a very few well-meaning folks who believe I need some involuntary psychiatric help, I withdrew the post due to the sheer vile ugliness that it garnered here. To those of you who spread your garbage mouthed (really, you kiss your mama with those lips) opinions, get bent. When a divine power you don't believe in graces my life with career success and a soulmate, I'll have the last laugh and my own sort of revenge by living well. I consider the writing a God-inspired calling, even if Christianity is more hated across the globe and has become the one religion freely trashed without any consequences. Jesus Chris warned followers they would all be hated by the secular pagan world just as He had first been during His ministry. Perhaps my fast typing here needs an editor to check for typos, but at least I try to be more careful with book and story revisions. Considering all the crap that "Black is the color of my one true love's hair" received on this little blog space, I weep for the future of humanity as it sinks into a new barbarism once the great coming economic collapse strips away the final civilized veneer that was created across the past three centuries in the Western World.
Just thought I'd update anyone interested in the book giveaway for A Legacy of Blood. I've received about two requests by e-mail per day since Wednesday night and have mailed the first four requested copies earlier today with two more going out through my local post office tomorrow. If the rate of interest holds steady, I should be out of the twenty copies by next Friday (or maybe a little later). Just keep the requests coming - and in English please since it's the only language I ever gained fluency with, math and foreign languages being two of my weaker academic areas.
Well, it's done. I've got the books ready to mail and envelopes to send them in of sufficient quantity. Now all I need do is await the first twenty requests for a free copy of my 262-page vampire novel entitled A Legacy of Blood: Jack Petrov - Private Investigator/Vampire Hunter, first self-publshed on December 12, 2011 and it has sold 0 copies since then. I don't know how much interest there will be in getting a free copy of my second pubished novel out there. I guess I'll find out soon enough. I'm waiting...
Oh, right - just send me your name and mailing address (so I can get it correctly copied onto the mailing envelope) and e-mail (so I can let the first 20 individuals making the request know they'll be getting one) at [email protected]. This offer begins starting tonight after 9:00 P.M. EDT, so now you know. I will post another announcement as soon as those 20 copies are history. Hope the lucky recipients enjoy them. Oh, only one copy per address will be sent. Yes, it's almost time to announce the giveaway to the first 20 folks requesting a free copy of A Legacy of Blood, my second self-published novel and first self-published horror novel. The book copies are here to mail, the mailing envelopes are ready to fill out and send away throught the postal service along with two flyers in each mentioning my first self-published novel (Worldjumpers) and the next one I intend publishing (The Circle of Light - a superhero fantasy novel). Sometime next week (possibly Sunday) I will make the formal offer on these websites (this one of course, Absolute Write Water Cooler, Pill Hill Press, Static Movement Press, Where Writers Meet and Wicked East Press, my Facebook page as Edwin Ray Haney and the Writers Inc. page for FB). If any other good prospects for making the announcement appear, I will mention them. I will also announce when the 20 copies have the first 20 persons who request them complete. All the individual need do is e-mail their request to [email protected] after I announce the giveaway's start and include a name with valid mailing address and their e-mail address - the former information to send their copy to the right place obviously and the latter so I can inform those lucky 20 persons ASAP their package is by then on its way (hopefully not getting lost or destroyed on the journey).
Considering my mixed results as an author now after 12 years and 7 months at the craft, I wonder if I'll actually get 20 requests Once upon a time there was an ongoing crisis between two of Earth's mightiest nations between about 1947 and 1991 known as the Cold War, something I lived through part of and an era that seems nostalgically safe despite the ever-present danger of thermonuclear war destroying human civilization if the United States of America or Union of Soviet Socialist Republics ever deliberately or accidentally triggered any nuclear armageddon. Yes, there were slightly fewer other nuclear powers back then (Britain, China, France, India and Pakistan), but none of those had the sheer megatonnage to end everything we knew. I suppose the nostalgia for such a time is due to it being past and thus no longer a current threat and the unknown insanity that is The War on Terror staring us in the face today. Growing up, I never feared nuclear annihilation as I was supposed to accoriding to the psychological experts, probably from the optimism of youth that is a natural fact of life.
Some commentators of those dangerous interesting times used to say that should a nuclear war come in fact that its survivors (aka the living) would envy those that died in the resulting holocaust (aka the dead). I never understood that impulse or emotion when younger, nor the Bibilcal prophecy from Revelation (chaoter 6 verse 16 and chaoter 9 verse 6) of men wanting mountains to fall upon oneself or to wish for death but being unable to die when suffering the Great Tribulations mentioned there. Now, I understand it far better, along with that expression about the living envying the dead. For the first time in my adult life, I experienced that emotion yesterday while working another shift of my miserable, bottom of the barrel part-time job as a building cleaner (glorified term for janitor). The morning before when meeting with a job counsellor from the Columbus Ohio Speech and Hearing Center about what the State could do for helping me secure a better job or comparable position, I learned that Ohio's minimum wage was now $7.70 per hour (I had thought it was still $7.40) and of course I only make the US and Kentucky minimum (the building I clean and my employer's business are both in Kentucky). I frankly hate my job and its inadequate funds to support me (having to dip frequently into some money from selling a house to compensate for shortfalls), and constantly complain to myself about how I have a useless college degree and limited job experience (both factors my fault) and must do hard manual labor for little reward at this stage in my life when some of my peers have succeeded at their ambitions far better than I. Last night as I worked, while considering how crappy my life has turned out after almost 44 years - no wife, no children, no close family, distant friends (both geographically and emotionally) and a handful of Facebook friends I secretly consider my enemies (the rest of those folks mere acquaintnces I know through varying degrees of familiarity), no solid and economically satisfying career realized, I cannot count my blessings when so many things in my life are rotten or nonexistent I desire and have desired for so long. I am a negative personality, something I cannot seem to change even with the Holy Spirit's influence within for 15 years. It's what has made me toxic as a potential friend or lover to any woman I ever desired (especially if the lady in question was "out of my league"), and what will probably condemn me to a remaining lifetime of solitude and crushing loneliness here. And this is why for the first time ever in my seemingly pointless life - I truly envy the dead their peace of the grave. The headlines could almost write themselves based on the predictions from the mainstream media's TV pundits without fail. As a result, I have decided to forgo even the motions of casting any ballor. Plus, since there are few to no Libertarian candidates to vote for (a Libertarian Party write-in candidate for US Senate the State of Ohio won't even count ballots for just like all write-in candidates), I won't change party affiliation just to vote for Ron Paul, the only candidate I want to become the next President of the United States.
The GOP establishment has had it in for Congressman Paul since 2008 in the Presidential primaries because he rocks too many boats and won't go along to get along in political matters whenever it conflicts with his honorable and Constitutional principles. He campaigns for true smaller government, but this conflicts with too many big government conservative interests that the GOP has always advocated behind the scenes to please its most-powerful members while pretending to advocate smaller government publically. Dr. Paul offends the Neo-Conservatives, Christian Zionists, War and Empire Lovers and Crony Capitalist because he will not bow to their sacred issues and seeks to defund their favorite programs and agendas within the federal government if elected President. The other Republican candidates talk about freedom sometimes but don't mean it and will forget any small government promises made once safely elected and inauguerated into the White House. Ron Paul would try his best to keep any and all campaign promises he makes because the man in a true believer in small government for America. He could expect no help from the Democratic Party's establishment and interest groups, even though some agree with him on civil liberties protection and anti war viewpoints in foreign policy, because his ideas to shrink government threaten their long-constructed entitlement political support base. With the Party of Welfare Socialism Dependency against his ideas, and the Party of Big Government Warfare Crony Capitalism never giving him a fair shot at the primaries, I see no other logical alternative for Dr Paul other than to force his ideas into the party's platform (in reality as meaningless an exercise as voting itself) or running on a third minor party's banner for President (the Libertarians would welcome him, but the last time he ran under their label, Paul only won about 400,000 votes in 1988) despite the crippling ballot access laws that drain any of those party's meager funds from campaigning activities to increase votes. In short, the political game is rigged in America seemingly in favor of any and all forces that seek to expand government's reach into our lives and wallets, until nothing remains a private matter (except ironically abortion and even that is regulated somewhat by law). As 20th Century political commentator Emma Goldman once remarked about voting, and I paraphrase this conclusion here, if voting actually changed anything it would be illegal. Don't worship the false goddess of democracy because on a large national scale it never works and only leads to the Tyranny of the Majority every time as we see across the globe today, in which two or more sides (though usually differing only on marginal issues and who to give the spoils to from the stolen goods won in an election) fight for power but the system keeps getting larger no matter who runs it. I see no difference between LBJ's Medicare and Bush II's Prescirption Drug Benefit except both have increased the cost of medicine and taken away personal freedom all in the name of giving preferred voting groups their entitlements and making everyone poorer generally. My one watchword in politics is freedom, and I mean genuine freedom from governmetn powers seeking to rule one's everyday life, not artificial freedoms cloaked in the phony theiving language of social justice. It is obvious to me that most Americans don't want maximum freedom, but the comfortable status quo from their nanny state federal government until the bottom falls out of this zombie economy propped up by printed money that has no real value as America heads toward an eventual economic abyss which will trigger the final vestages of the growing Police State when folks riot if their government handouts ever stop. It's a future I don't want to live in even though that dystopian scenario will happen under current deteriorating conditions across this land. I hope the foolish voters who give their misguided annointing to Obama or Romney in this civic religion we call government can live with themselves when the lights finallygo out all over the nation and finally the world (before Christ's Second Coming). |
